How do you clean/remove the film on the outside side of windows?

March 10th, 2010

We just bought a house and I don’t think the previous owners washed the windows in the last few years; there is a buildup that is like a gray or white-ish film. I’ve tried Windex and professional strength window cleaner and also CLR, nothing yet has worked. How do I wash it away?

Have you tried the Windex window cleaner that you hook to the end of your water hose?…I have used it a lot with GREAT results.
You can get it at home depot and lowes.
If that is the windex you have used, go to lowes or home depot and ask the I`m sure they can help.

How do i start up my own window cleaning business?

March 10th, 2010

I have my own Car and i work at ASDA as a cleaner, also i work towards the national minimum wage.I want to take things a step further starting my own business and earn more money but i dont know what to do, where to go, getting products, who to see, or creating my business card can anyone tell me what to do step by step. Ps do i need to pay to start my business. once again please everything step by step thank you.

I genuinely don’t understand the other posters’ BS about ‘EU regulations’… it’s literally nonsense!

So, being practical and giving information step-by-step:

1. You can start a window cleaning business immediately: It takes no paper work; if you decide you want to be "[your name]: window cleaner", you can be (you’ll be what is legally known as a "Sole Trader")

2. The really important thing to understand when you start out as "[your name]: window cleaner" (Sole Trader) is that you will be running a business (that was easy!) where you will be personally and directly responsible for all financial matters of that business; i.e you by 1000 litres of window cleaning fluid for £10,000 YOU will owe someone £10,000.

3.Still, bearing the personal responsibility in mind, being a sole trader is a REALLY easy way to start a business and, given that it takes no effort and costs no money, would be ideally suited for your purposes, particularly since I assume you’ll be sensible enough to buy the 10 litres of window cleaning fluid you will need to cover a week rather than buying 1000 litres at the start (the window cleaner thing is hypothetical – I have no idea how much you’ll need or how much it costs)!

Well, business advice over: the advice I can give you for setting up a window cleaning round is that reputation really matters. I’d start by doing a really good job on a friend of the family’s house then get them to recommend you to their friends, do a really good job of cleaning their windows… etc.

What’s the best & easiest way to clean window blinds?

March 10th, 2010

I guess they are the ordinary plastic white window blinds…
Anyways, wiping them down with a damp rag is kinda hard to do! The blinds keep moving and the dirt is just still sticking to the blinds. I was just wondering if there is an easier way to do it?

If your blinds merely need a dusting, use the soft brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner to suck away dirt. If you don’t have a brush attachment, try wearing a pair of cotton gloves or an old pair of socks on your hands and wiping the slats between your fingers. A small paintbrush can also be used to dust slats.

If the blinds are pretty dirty, try wiping them down with a damp sponge or cloth while they are hanging. Some people recommend taking them down and spraying them in the shower or with a hose, but to really remove dirt, your best bet may be to soak them in a bathtub full of mild soapy water. If you’re worried about rotting the strings, soak the blinds in vinegar.

Line the tub with a towel before adding the blinds to prevent scratching the finish of the tub. Also, make sure the blinds are open, so the slats don¿t stick together. After the blinds have soaked for about 30 minutes, rinse them off and hang them outside to dry. When they are completely dry, rehang. One final trick: Wipe your newly clean blinds with a sheet of fabric softener to prevent dust from building up.

“Hey dad.” I said. “Morning.” He replied. The Daily News and coffee was on the table. I made myself waffles with some orange juice and sat with him. He mentioned, “In the news, it said two people have been missing since last week. So be careful.” I nodded my head and ate. “Are you going to do anything to keep you busy Amber? You can’t keep watching TV and going on the computer all the time. You finished your summer homework?” He said. I nodded. “I posted letters saying I’ll baby-sit and clean houses’ No one has called me yet.” He kept looking at the paper, gave me a hug, and went to work.
I did laundry, bought some groceries, cleaned my room, and took a nap. About four hours I wasted and it was noon. I changed into a Capri, black shirt, and black sequin sneakers. Nothing to do! Another four hours went by and my mom came back from work. She went straight to bed. I already had like three meals in two hours; your supposed have three a day. I ate half of what I bought and went back outside to buy more groceries. Someone called me to be at their house at six o’clock pm. Like about an hour it took me to find the house. On the left handle of my bike were my cleaning supplies. Keys in one pocket, cell in the other. A guy older than me answered the door, maybe five or ten years. Maybe twenty-six. He stared at me for two minutes. Weird. “Babysitting or cleaning?” I asked. “Oh I’m sorry, I was thinking of something else.” He said. After I put my stuff on the counter, there must have been at least five locks on the door. All the windows were shut and covered. Almost all of the house was covered except for the flashing of the TV. As he was about to turn the light on I swear I saw a knife. Something shone in the moonlight, something silver. He turned the light on, “My keys.” He replied. His blue eyes shone in the dark, but his black hair camouflaged. Nothing major to clean in the kitchen. He came in and said, “Nice work.” My golden eyes sparkled with pride. “What’s your name?” He asked. The sparkle faded.
“Amber.” He smiled. “Amber means joy and happiness, fascinating. Your eyes match your name. Brown is soft and nice, just like your hair.” Kind of uncomfortable here, but was that a compliment? “Thanks. Anything more?” He told me to clean some of his living room, nothing bad. He kept watching me. Awkward! Snap! My scrunchy broke and my caramel hair flowed out. I put my hair behind my ear. “Anywhere else?” I asked. “Basement.” He replied. He showed me and I think he went back upstairs.
As I waited for the machine to stop, there were footsteps. His eyes were sinking into my back. “I need to leave by eight and to call my parents.” He watched as I dialed the number. “No reception.” He said. A knife slid out from his back. I ran towards the stairs, but he blocked me, I watched the knife, and kicked his knees. He dragged me down by the ankle; I tried to hold something, and kicked his face. Snap! I broke his nose.
I locked the door and put a chair against the door. He shouted my name. His hands were coming out of a hole in the door searching for the knob. He shouted my name and I called the cops. Twenty minutes I had to distract him. “Amber!” An angry voice shouted. I hid in his closet curled into a ball, my black shirt making me invisible with my hair. My eyes would sell me out. The knife shone through the moonlight. He got out and saw my eyes. Just perfect. It’s like me shouting, “I’m over here!”
He pulled me up by the arm. If he tightened his grip on me, I bet I’d loose my circulation of blood flow. “Run again and you’ll regret it.” Like I don’t regret coming here in the first place. There was a red, white, and blue light coming from the wind. “You called the cops on me? You’re way quicker than those other two.” Fear crept in my mind reminding of the two people who were missing a weak ago. A knock on the door, he put his hand around my waist and the knifepoint to my back. If I made a mistake, he would pierce it.
The officer saw how uncomfortable I was and asked, “Ma’am, are you ok?” I nodded. He forgot the knife that was to my back and turned around, the officer saw it. Quickly, he put the knife to my neck; the officer backed off and went outside. Something wet streamed down my face. My ribcage started hurting, I couldn’t breathe. I stopped fighting. Everything seemed fuzzy and I collapsed.
The pain went away. There was a hand to help me, but the wrong person. I watched the knife; again I kicked him, but hard to the chest. He fell backwards and crashed into something, I rolled over and ran, then looked back. Where is the knife? There was a pain in my thigh, I fell and limped outside. A trail of blood followed me as I struggled to move faster. The police were outside and helped me into an ambulance. My parents were running towards me. I put

I’m sorry, I couldn’t finish reading. I was horribly put off by you endlessly saying ‘like’.

Something else to be carefull about, ‘He kept looking at the paper, gave me a hug, and went to work.’ that reads that he gave you a hug while reading the paper, so keep an eye on what picture you are painting for the reader to see.

There are some good ideas there, better than many I read on Answers, but it still needs a lot of editing.

Keep going.

Where can I still buy a full copy of Windows XP?

March 10th, 2010

The basic question is, where can I still buy a license for Windows XP, and the followup is since Microsoft does not want us buying Windows XP, what can I buy instead that will run on an underpowered older PC?

…but if you must know the circumstances, read below:
Earlier this year I decided to save some money on my phone bill and use Skype as my long distance carrier. Of course, I don’t need much computing power for that so I bought a used Ebox 4851. The seller said the box can run Windows XP without any problems, but did note he would be wiping the drive clean. I thought I had an unused copy of Windows XP OEM lying around but apparently I don’t have the key for it.

Naturally Microsoft’s response is, "please upgrade to Vista" but this little box doesn’t meet Vista minimum hardware requirements. The equipment I have from VoSky connecting Skype to my phone line (it’s called a VoSky Internet Phone Wizard) isn’t Linux-compatible; drivers are only available for Windows XP or Vista.

Without getting into the debates of "just junk the old thing and get something Vista-compatible" or "you might be able to write your own Linux drivers" (because I’m just not that hard-core), what do I do? Is piracy really my only option here?

You will be able to get a proper license on ebay.
Go for a power seller who deals in software and has a good reputation (high positive feedback %)

Why does windows restart when I try to update windows?

March 10th, 2010

This is a clean install of windows.

It was fine until I ran windows update for the first time and it installed the Windows Validation tool.

Now whenever I run Windows Update (or Microsoft Update) the green progress bar runs for a little while and then the computer just turns off and restarts.

I have just discovered that this happens when I try to install Internet Explorer 7 (when I click the validate button).

This is obviously to do with the validation, but how do I fix it???
This is Windows XP Pro…

reload windows

or

insert your windows xp CD in CD ROM drive

now click start on desktop ^ Run ^

here type " command"

press enter

a dos window will open

here type

sfc/scannow

the computer will replace all the bad file with the original file on CD

How to get rid of window spots?

March 10th, 2010

My car has what seems to be water spots on the windows, but I can’t seem to get them off. When we added the tinting, the dark background made them stick out more. It’s probally impurities in the water, and set on the surface to long, but it there a solution to clean them up?

Try a clay bar kit. It’s made for the paint surface but I use it on my windows after cleaning them and it works pretty well.

How do I know that PC Cleaner is really fixing problems on my windows 7?

March 8th, 2010

I installed PC Cleaner on my computer. I have windows 7 home premium on a Gateway DX4831-01e. When I run a scan it shows there are around 150 errors in the registry, so I hit the repair button and it says it fixes them. But, everytime I run the scan the errors show even after I had hit the button to repair them. Does PC Cleaner really work?

Do the same errors keep appearing? If they do, then the cleaner is not working as it should.

I use a tool called "RegCure" on my Windows 7 system. It finds like 200 errors on my computer each scan but all the errors are different meaning that it actually cleans them all. I got it from http://www.fastregistryfixes.com/best_registry_cleaner_tools.html

How do I know a cat is hungry?

March 8th, 2010

I live in an apartment complex and the watchman lady (no typo here) one day told me that my neighbor has cat food always availble but sometimes forgets to keep the window open and the cat happens to wander with hunger (I have seen it the first time and it meows like crazy outside the door, walking around restlessly). I feed her/him some milk as I have endless supply of milk/tea in my house (and yes, she knows I feed the cat and she cleans his house regularly and I believe, he would have told me if he has a problem with me feeding the cat).

Now, a simple question because of my ignorence. Often this cat comes in, and I assume it only comes in if it is hungry, and doesn’t drink the milk/tea (I don’t pour too much) but just hangs out and leaves, wasting my precious milk/tea. So, is there any way I can know this cat is really hungry and is just hanging out in my house?

I won’t say the cat is friendly with me and that’s why it hangs out because, it shows me no signs of affection.

Hi, cats will often meow alot or follow you around if they are hungry or if they want something. My sister’s cats often meow and walk around waiting fro somone to come outside. When they are hungry or want to come inside. If they are hungry they will rub against your legs or stand up on their back legs with their front feet on your knee. When they meow alot try patting them or scratching them under the chin or by their ears. If they keep meowing or it’s around the usual time they would eat, try giving them some water and or milk and some cat food. For the most part if they start eating or drinking you probably have made their day or in other words made them very happy. Occasionaly they will push along your leg or arm with their face to mark you with their scent. If the neighbours cat does this it is showing you effection. Be careful sometimes they weeve around your legs and you cantrip. hope this helps!
